Cedar Creek November 10-

November is the start of Trophy Blue Cat fishing. This will be my favorite fishing from now until March. Trips usually catch from 5-15 blues going from 15 to over 50 pounds. Some days produce better than others but several over 20# are the norm.

  • Cedar Creek November 10

My first official day to search for some bigger blues. Mike Cooley joined Peanut and me and we enjoyed a beautiful day on the water. The morning bite was very good, landing three near 20# and one 49#, the total take for today was twenty five blues for a total of 175#. The four big fish were catch&release. This trip ended as any Cedar Creek trip should with a  trip to Xtreme Bar B Que http://www.xtremebbb.com/

  • Nov. 22

Today was a good day and a bad day. I knew it was headed the wrong way when Peanut balked at going. In turn his mutiny was my downfall and I did not take his bag on the boat. His bag also contains the camera and scales. Jerry Robinson and his son Jimmy joined me for some windless shallow water fishing. Managed three fish shallow before making the choice to go deeper, headed out to 30'. We soon put three nice 20+# fish and one nearing 30# in the boat, bigger fish C&R. Ended the day with sixteen and it was a beautiful day to be on the water. We saw maybe a dozen boats all day.

  • Nov. 24

The Cooleys turned out in force today: one Chris, two Gregs and two Austins; three generations who hail from Fort Worth and OK City. The wind howled and the new front scattered the fish. The big fish today was a 25.2 and they managed to put ten fish in the box.

  • Nov. 28

Marty Buckholt and his five year old son Justice along with nephews James & John Smiser put in 2.5 hours of fishing this morning. Nice cool morning and the wind was medium to strong. They boated ten fish, the largest four going 15 to 20#. Justice took top honors with the most fish, James had big fish for a while but Marty edged him out at the final wire.

  • Dec 8

After being under the weather for the better part of week and a half I could stand it no longer so the afternoon trip of a couple of hours fixed my fishin' jones, for a little while anyhow.

  • Dec. 15 TF&G Trophy Quest Trip-What a day!

Roger Schott and AJ-Gus-Novak made a five hour drive from Pleasanton, TX to take part in the Texas Fish & Game Trophy Quest trip. The Cabins at Cherry Creek in Mabank, TX provided lodging. I met the fellows Monday night for supper at the Ole West Bean & Burger in downtown Mabank. The trip started in near freezing high wind conditions. The temp finally rose to the upper forties but the wind never let up. By Gus's records, we managed to boat fifteen fish for a total of 235#. The big fish of the day went 51.3# (about 1.4# off the lake record), the largest so far this year. They also had three fish in the boat at one time, all in the 30# range.

  • Dec. 19 35.5# bluecat

Juanita joined me today for a windy&cool trip. Started out very slow and no bites for the first two hours. She landed a 20 and then a 35.5 along with some smaller box fish. All in all not bad but not real good.
